Vatican insults stem cell community with its ‘scandal’

The Vatican punted its 2012 stem cell conference at nearly the last minute because it had invited some of the best, most mature stem cell leaders (who happen to some of the time conduct or be in favor of embryonic stem cell research) in the world.

The Vatican is in turmoil over this issue.

Apparently its right hand (the one it uses to cover its eyes, ears, and brain) did not know what is left hand, the one that organized the meeting and was seemingly in favor of a real dialogue, was doing.

Now the Vatican and its leaders are calling this a “scandal”.

By canceling the meeting the Vatican shows its true colors and in my opinion insults the legitimate stem cell community, many of whom it literally views as sinners.

  1. The Catholic Church does not have a good record with science, starting with Galileo. Why expect anything more? I am more concerned about their political activities in the US. I strongly feel the IRS should take away their tax exempt status.
