Must-see video of sock puppet (Cheryl Ling)’s profanity-laced tirade against FDA regulation of stem cells

I’ve been in the stem cell field for a long time. I’ve seen a lot of wild, unexpected, even crazy things. Running this blog is a big reason.

However, I have never seen anything like the wild video (see below) with a sock puppet (manned by comedienne Cheryl Ling) erupting with a profanity-laced tirade about stem cell policy issues. Who would have thunk it?

This sock puppet is one heck of a foul-mouthed, angry, pro-stem cell deregulation animated foot garment.

In human form Ling (who plugs her own comedy shows BTW) has two additional videos saying much the same thing, but sans sock puppet.

Ling seems a big fan of Regenexx, the expanded stem cell treatment formerly offered by stem cell clinic Regenerative Sciences, Inc. that the FDA (backed by the federal judge) says is a drug subject to regulation.Cheryl Ling

Ling and the sock puppet say they hate the FDA and big pharma plotting against them. She says next the FDA will regulate her urination. Interestingly, she also says she has received a same-day point-of-care stem cell treatment. It’s unclear where she got this treatment.

Also no word on how Regenexx feels about Ling’s videos including the sock puppet production.

OK, in the stem cell world, what can top this?

A fake Kermit the Frog rapping in favor of personhood?

At this point, I wouldn’t be shocked.

    Paul,

Yes, as Cheryl says, she’s our patient. She amuses the entire staff (including the physicians) when she’s here and hopefully your plug will help make her comedy career! She initially tried posting these in serious discussion groups on Linkedin and I made her take those down. However, while I don’t agree with her approach, she’s entitled to post her opinion on her own page. I personally have been too afraid to watch this recent post, but my office manager told me about it yesterday. C’est la vie!

    1. Thanks, Chris, for the comment and background. I may not agree with Cheryl, but I gotta say the video is entertaining even if crude. She seems like an interesting character who feels passionately about stem cells, expressed in her own unique way.
