One of my kids and I attended the March for Science In Sacramento this past Saturday. It was a lot of fun, energizing, and interesting. I found it encouraging and exciting to see thousands of people gathered in support of science. There were tons of scientists, but quite a few people who were not scientists themselves, but supported science. Some of the signs and other expressions of support for science or concerns about the current political climate on science were particularly intense and thought-provoking. I liked how one sign said “STEMinist”.
I’ve posted some of the more striking pictures below and one above of me with two of my medical students here at UC Davis School of Medicine. For some pics I’ve collaged together multiple ones.
If you have some cool pics from your March for Science (your city, Washington D.C., etc., send them to me and I might post them).
Just sent over a few from the Providence rally.
It was great to hang out with so many scientists…and great for non-scientists to see us as real people.
