RFK Jr on stem cells & his wacky war on the FDA

It’s Halloween and one of the scariest things out there  arguably i s a wild tweet from RFK Jr on stem cells and the FDA.

Why worry what Kennedy thinks about such topics?

Trump has indicated that Kennedy will have some major healthcare role in his second term should he be re-elected.

The last thing we need is Kennedy promoting unproven stem cells and stem cell clinics. This would be especially worrisome if he is in a position of power in the federal government.

RFK Jr. on stem cells, stem cell clinics
RFK Jr. says the FDA has been suppressing stem cells along with all kinds of other unproven stuff.

RFK Jr. on stem cells and the FDA

See Kennedy’s tweet below.

The tweet makes very little sense but still manages to be quite dangerous.

The idea of an FDA war on public health is ludicrous. More specifically, Kennedy is saying the FDA has been suppressing good stuff including “stem cells.” What could he mean?

I think he’s referring to unproven “stem cells” sold by clinics. Look at the other stuff, some of which is flat-out baloney, that he’s putting “stem cells” with in this tweet. What does he mean by “peptides”? Hydroxychloroquine for what? Chelation?

Then he claims the FDA is also suppressing exercise and clean food? That’s just nonsense.

Remember that he is anti-vax too.

Trump, RFK Jr., and the FDA

During Trump’s first term, frankly the FDA struggled to maintain its mission in some key ways. For instance, I’ve written before about how former FDA Commissioner Steve Hahn, per his own text messages, may have caved to political pressure related to some important IND decisions on biologics.

Imagine in a second term an FDA trying to function with RFK Jr. potentially being Secretary of HHS or in some other position of power.

In a sense, Kennedy has declared war on the FDA. He could do all kinds of damage across many areas. If we just think about biologics, Kennedy could impede the agency’s efforts to properly address unproven stem cell clinics. Heck, he might promote unproven stem cells including for autism.

Kennedy could pressure the agency to approve not-ready-for-primetime cell therapies.

Overall, there aren’t that many people who would be worse than RFK Jr. in a position to impact the FDA and U.S. healthcare policies.

  1. I thought the right was against stem cells because they think people are killing babies to get them or they are creating Frankenstein babies for research purposes, you know, doing God’s work. And that we have restrictions in place that hold back effective research. I think RFK is an idiot, but is he going to free up the restrictions holding the US back, or is he going to just get stuff approved that isn’t vetted? I’m all for #1, but my guess is he will try to jump to #2 based on nothing.

  2. Paul, once again you’re just showing your bias.

You think the FDA isn’t suppressing mesenchymal stem cells?

Oh, you’re gonna act like you don’t know a dam thing about peptides… Ever heard of BPC-157? BPC-157 is just one of many peptides that are showing great promise for healing the human body. And what are peptides? They are signaling proteins so they’re quite safe.

Yeah if you want to get a proper treatment of mesenchymal stem cells then you have to leave the country so yeah the FDA is suppressing stem cells and they’re suppressing peptides as well.

Did you know the there are literally thousands of chemicals that are allowed in our food that are banned in Europe and Canada? Everything RFK jr says is true!

I’m glad RFK jr teamed up with Trump and I’m glad Elon Musk has teamed up with Trump. I’m about to go drop my ballot off today and I’m voting for Trump.

What you’re gonna sit there and pretend there isn’t money corruption in the FDA? You’re gonna pretend Big Pharma hasn’t captured the FDA?

“Trust issues deepen as yet another FDA commissioner joins the pharmaceutical industry”

You need to learn who Brigham Buhler is, this was the very first time he was on the Joe Rogan show, sit down and watch this when you get a chance, you’ll learn about just how corrupt the health insurance companies are. Big Pharma and the health insurance companies have total control over our healthcare in the USA and there’s a lot of corruption. Listen to this guy’s story.

If health insurance won’t cover it, sorry you’re not gonna get the treatment.

And then Big Pharma has a lot of sway and influence over the FDA.

“Why is the FDA Funded in Part by the Companies It Regulates? Nearly half the agency’s budget now comes from ‘user fees’ paid by companies seeking approval for medical devices or drugs”

Now you’re gonna post my comment right? You’re not gonna censor my comment are you?

    1. I’m no fan of big health insurance companies. I’m not sure how that is relevant to the requirements for cell therapy clinical trials and good evidence before approvals.

It is correct that Big Pharma has influence on the FDA but I haven’t really seen that manifesting much with the biologics or CBER branch of the FDA. I see zero evidence they suppressing regenerative medicine.

You need great evidence for something being safe and effective before you start injecting it willy nilly.

Also, keep in mind that stem cell clinics now collectively are a big industry too, maybe $1B in the US per year. They clearly are not free from corruption.

  3. Dr. Robert Lanza is moving forward in using Stem cell therapy for various diseases in 2025.
The people criticizing RFK shoud do some reasearch.

      1. I’ve known Bob Lanza for 20 years. His efforts to bring cellular therapy to the clinic have always been based in pluripotent stem cell technology, human embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells. He’s always had integrity and his efforts are based in science. Are you saying that he’s now decided to become a purveyor of fake stem cell therapies?
