Dr. Ted Peters, Lutheran pastor and Christian Scholar, has a new book out: Sacred Cells? Why Christians Should Support Stem Cell Research.
Dr. Peters argues in his book and also at a recent Christian Scholars Conference at Pepperdine University that Christians should respect all sides of this argument and don’t just “have malice towards those that disagree with you.”
Perhaps his key point is that by making ES cell lines from blastocysts “we are not baby killers”. The blastocyst is the human embryo at around 5 days of age.
Peters is reportedly on CIRM’s Scientific and Medical Accountability Standards Working Group.
Peters’ arguments and empathic approach is so refreshing.
