Republicans pander at extreme Anti-Cure Rally tonight

Four GOP hopefuls–Gingrich, Bachmann, Santorum, and Perry–attended an anti-cure meeting tonight to reaffirm their pledges to give human rights to fertilized eggs.

Remarkably, these 4 supposedly mainstream GOP candidates for President of the United States, have embraced the notion of giving the same rights to single celled fertilized eggs that living, breathing, thinking human beings have…and this wild idea is one that was viewed as so extreme that the voters of one of the most conservative states in the U.S., Mississippi, rejected it by a significant margin.

Yet these 4 GOP presidential candidates are pandering to anti-cure extremists who are far far out of touch with the vast majority of Americans. In fact, even the National Right to Life and the Roman Catholic churched are opposed to the personhood movement. The Republican pander-fest was broadcasted on the Steve Deace show. No transcript of the meeting has yet been made available, but we will try to provide commentary on the actual content of the meeting as soon as we can.

As much as I think that Mitt Romney would not be a good president for science and stem cell research, I gotta give him credit for not signing the personhood pledge and not attending tonight’s anti-cure pandering party.

Stay tuned for a very tough 2012 as the anti-cure forces get ready to spend millions trying to kill hope on the state and federal levels.

  1. Thanks for covering this important issue, Dr. K.

Unfortunately, Romney told former GOP Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, on his Fox news show, that he would “absolutely” sign a Constitutional Amendment on personhood values….

Anyone supporting stem cell research needs to support Democrats in 2012, as the Republican party is pretty much dominated by the anti-cure Religious Right.
