Make a difference for kids through St. Baldrick’s

St. Baldrick'sThousands of kids in America get cancer each year and need our help.

One of the best organizations in the world, St. Baldrick’s Foundation, is dedicated to helping these kids.

This is a wonderful foundation!

St. Baldrick’s describes itself as “a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and gives survivors long and healthy lives.”

What could be better than that?

St. Baldrick’s raises millions of dollars to support research to help kids battling cancer. I am very honored to be a part of this via grant support from St. Baldrick’s for my lab’s research on the most common childhood brain tumor, medulloblastoma.

You can make a difference in the battle against childhood cancer and in the lives of many children by supporting St. Baldrick’s.

There are many ways you can help.

First you can either call (888-899-BALD (2253)) or go to their website to make a donation. Please make a donation.

Second, you can get involved and volunteer to help out with St. Baldrick’s events by clicking here. It’s easy and quick to get information.

Third, you can sponsor a St. Baldrick’s team during the shaving events.

Let me explain.

One of the ways that St. Baldrick’s raises funds for childhood cancer research is through shaving events. People get their heads shaved, in solidarity with children getting cancer treatments who lose their hair, and through pledges raise millions of dollars to help St. Baldrick’s to in turn help kids. So if you are a bit brave, get shaved and make a difference. Of course you do not have to your head shaved, but can still help out by volunteering or making a pledge for someone who is getting shaved.

For example, here in the Northern California area there are upcoming events through which you can make a difference.

There’s a special King’s b-ball game coming up at which a portion of the specially priced ticket sales go to St. Baldrick’s. Have fun at the game and in so doing make a difference! You can your tickets here.

You can also make a donation to the UC Davis Cancer Center St. Baldrick’s team here.

There will be St. Baldrick’s events at deVere’s in Sacramento on Monday, March 12 and deVere’s in Davis on Wednesday March 10 as well as an event at Westfield Galleria in Roseville on Saturday, March 10.  Click on the blue name of the venues above to be taken to pages with more information on how to help out, existing teams to sponsor, etc.

March may be about college basketball, but it is also a fantastic time to help children fighting brain cancer via St. Baldrick’s!
